"I am just beginning my second year as Mayor, and this is my
eighth year on the city commission. I was just telling someone today just how
much I love being the mayor of the City of Decatur. With the people we have
working in this city, the level of enthusiasm that people have for their jobs,
the creativity and innovative thinking, I can't imagine being the mayor
anywhere else. Watching kids walking in the morning and seeing parents out on
porches, there's a real feeling of community. You can tell that we are a
welcoming, compassionate city, and that we really care about each other. “
