Jerome Green

"I went into the military in 1988 and came home in 2008; I served for 20 years. I was in the Persian-Gulf War from '91. I had two tour duties over there in '91 and '93. And I was in the Bosnia War from 2001-2003, so I had four different touring duties. The military isn't for everybody, because it's rough. I'm retired now; I'm a retired veteran. You got a lot of veterans that got killed over there, I've seen a lot of friends that got killed; friends that were crippled. I've seen a lot. I've seen men get killed, women get killed. There's no discrimination when you're at war. What I don't like is that when you get crippled and you come back to the United States and they don't want to take care of you. You have to get a lawyer and fight for disability when you should automatically get everything you need because you're a disabled veteran. We fight for your freedom, and I really don't think Americans appreciate what the veterans do. Because if it weren't for us people wouldn't be free."
