"I’ve been doing Saint Baldricks for 9 years and I started doing it when I was six years old. What I do is I raise money and then I shave my head through the Saint Baldricks Foundation and all that money is donated to the the Saint Jude Hospital for cancer research. And the money goes towards helping cancer research and helping kids with cancer. I also donate my hair so that it can be made into wigs for cancer patients and I really like to do it because it’s not that much of a sacrifice for me but it makes a big difference for a lot of other people so I think it is a great thing to do."

Diane Capriola- Part Owner of Little Shop of Stories
“We have become such a part of the community that little
shop is a place that families come not just to buy books, but to be a part of
the community. So I have this story that I like to tell that on Sunday mornings
I’ll come in really early before the shop opens and I’ll kind of sit in the
dark to try and get work done before the shop opens. And every Sunday that I do
that, I hear someone tugging at the door trying to get in and I hear the parent
having the conversation with their little kid like, ‘Oh their not open, they don’t
open until noon.’ And almost always the kid is upset and the mom has to
reassure that, ‘they will go back, they will go back.’ But there was this one
morning, just recently, that that happened and I heard a little kid tugging on
the door. The mom said, ‘Oh no, not yet,’ and the child expressed disappointment
about it. They might have even started crying and the mom said, ‘Yeah, it’s one
of my favorite places too.’ And it was just such a powerful moment to know what
we are to the community,”

"So basically, my student is doing a learning RX program and
we work with people who have weakened cognitive skills. So maybe their
attention might be weakened or their auditory processing skills or their
auditory processing speed. So it helps with memory and helps people focus in on
their attention and helps build those cognitive skills up. We do a lot of brain
training but we do it in a fun way. So basically what exercising does for the
body this does the same thing for the brain."
