Hans Prouser

I was born during a bad time period in Germany. I was born in 1929. Hitler came on as chancellor in 1933 so I was four years old when Hitler came on. As I grew up I was in Hitler youth like everybody else had to be when they were ten years old. I was all for him them, all the kids were for him then. It was easy because they didn’t talk about anything else. The newspapers were owned by the government, radio, government, there was only one station. Nobody was discussing anything else so for children it was easy to take it all up like a sponge and Hitler understood how to get you interested.

Louise Purselle

"My favorite part of the project was getting to see how many different types of people there are in Decatur outside of my small friend group. I learned that you really can't judge a book by its cover because somebody that looked like they would have a really short story or they wouldn't have that much to say, ended up spewing this whole story about where they were born, and what they love about Decatur. It was really interesting.”

"I always wanted to be a teacher. Probably since high school. I had a teacher that inspired me and made me want to do that for a living.  I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life until I was about 16, and that's when I took chemistry in high school and decided that maybe I want to do this for a living."
